ACCOMODATION The most important reason for visiting the Park continues to be 'visiting the
mountains.' The main motives for visits are the need for purity, silence, virgin nature,
contact with people of similar views, and the observation of animals and plants.
Chalets are still the most frequently used accommodation. Among the tourists visiting
Central Balkan, 80% come for more than two days, and 70% spend these nights in
chalets. For some people such visits are a way of spending their annual holiday. This
group stays for five and a half days on average. Two-thirds of the visits are made in
the warm months between June and September. Another category of visitor, mostly
composed of hikers, enters the Park for shorter time - one to three days.
